Masterclass
Sam Ayre and Humanities Department, Morpeth Secondary School

Students from Morpeth School, Religious Studies and Philosophy courses, worked with artist Sam Ayre to explore storytelling, politics and utopia in different cultures.  Using William Kentridge: Thick Time as a spring board for critical discussion, questions included: ‘If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?’ and ‘Would you rather live in the past or the future?’

There’s so many more things happening in the art gallery than I thought, it wasn’t as boring as I expected! Student, Morpeth Secondary School

Sam was fantastic in supporting students to access the themes within the exhibition, and tailored the information carefully to the needs of our students. Many had never visited an art gallery before but Sam supported us to make it an enjoyable and unintimidating experience – hopefully one they will repeat! Teacher, Morpeth Secondary School
