Using the exhibition Mary Heilmann: Looking at Pictures as a stage, singer-songwriter Lail Arad performs a captivating live acoustic set of her folk-inspired songs.
Much like Heilmann, whose abstract paintings often relate to key moments in her life, friendships and places she has lived or spent time, Arad draws from her personal experiences in her music.
Lail Arad’s second album The Onion was released through The Vinyl Factory on April 15th 2016. The album was co-produced between a snowy winter in Geneva and a summer heat wave in New York. It came together patiently – writing, erasing, demoing and dallying; the result is a striking marriage of assured maturity and childlike spirit. The Onion is a follow-up to the London-born singer songwriter’s 2011 debut Someone New.
