Past Event
Situated in the iconic Wash Houses, the former site of the Women’s Library, is Abigail Reynolds’ poetic moving image work that draws on the artist’s extraordinary five-month journey along the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road. Travelling solo from China through Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkey, Italy and Egypt, Reynolds visited the sites of libraries lost over the past two thousand years to political conflicts, natural catastrophes, revolutions and wars. To accompany this Reynolds has produced a new folded paper work that contains the transcript of Lost Libraries, available to take away.
