Sculpture in the City’s 11th edition will come alive with performances, dance, spoken word and music, forming an extensive associate programme in locations across the City of London. Bringing the area to life will be some of the exhibiting artists including Emma Louise Moore, Emma Smith, Bram Ellens, Jun T. Lai, Jocelyn McGregor, Pedro Pires and Elisa Artesero, along with a number of tours around the 11th edition of Sculpture in the City, including an Art and Architecture tour led by David Rosenberg and Anne-Marie Craven. More details at: sculptureinthecity.org.uk
Pedro Pires presents a sound installation created specifically for Nocturnal Creatures, juxtaposing soundscape of the urban and the natural, whilst Bram Ellens activates his sculpture through an Orphaned Soundtrack – an atmospheric sound installation produced from LPs which have been discarded or donated to thrift stores. The songs seem familiar, yet just not quite…
There will be a series of live performances from Emma Louise Moore as she immerses audiences into the steep valley backdrop in the ‘plug and feather’ method of marble breaking, a unique opportunity to witness an artist’s process.
Jocelyn McGregor will draw audiences into a horror folk tale daring them to explore deeper. Elisa Artesero invites dancers to activate The Garden of Floating Words in a specially choreographed performance for one evening only.
Emma Smith and Jun T. Lai will provide audiences with the opportunity to participate through poetry. Emma will reintroduce us to the meaning of ‘we’, and Jun T. Lai brings modern day Alice in Wonderland on roller-skates!
Sculpture in the City has created festival pathways for families and for those wanting to absorb it all, head to the website for a detailed map so you can explore the sculptures and programming in your own time too.
