London galleries collaborate with artist Theaster Gates on a multi-venue presentation dedicated to clay

Whitechapel Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and Serpentine are delighted to jointly announce a multi-venue presentation dedicated to artist Theaster Gates’s (b.1973, USA) clay practice for 2021-22. The programme features a major solo exhibition of the artist’s clay-based work, collection displays and new commissions.

Artist Emma Talbot travels to Italy for residency organised by the Collezione Maramotti

Max Mara, Whitechapel Gallery and Collezione Maramotti are delighted to announce that Emma Talbot (b. 1969, UK), winner of the 8th edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women (2019-2022), will travel to Italy in June 2021 to begin her six-month residency organised by the Collezione Maramotti.

Gilane Tawadros Appointed New Director of Whitechapel Gallery

16 May 2022 – Whitechapel Gallery is delighted to announce that curator and writer, Gilane Tawadros, has been appointed the new Director of Whitechapel Gallery, London. Currently Chief Executive of DACS, a not-for-profit visual artists' rights management organisation, and previously founding Director of the Institute of International Visual Arts (Iniva), Tawadros will take up her post in October 2022.
