Youth Collective: Duchamp & Sons >
From animation to composition, costume to choreography Duchamp & Sons developed a project to coincide with William Kentridge: Thick Time (21 September 2016 – 15 January 2017).
Over four months they collaborated with artist Chiara Ambrosio and creative practitioners from English National Opera to investigate a cross- disciplinary approach to making. The group were introduced to diverse practices including millinery, new ways of thinking and making, and had the opportunity to see the dress rehearsal of Kentridge’s opera production Lulu at the London Coliseum.
The project culminated in a pop- up exhibition at the Gallery showing screenings of animations investigating identity and perception, headpieces, photographs of the project and two special performances by Duchamp & Sons and opera soprano Sarah Labiner singing Who am I?, a song developed with composer Pete Letanka.
