Generously supported by The Swarovski Foundation, the Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon honours the lifetime achievements of one of our greatest artists. A special Gala Dinner and Artist Auction at Banking Hall, London, on 19 March celebrates Richard Long, Art Icon 2015. Presenting the award and honouring the artist is Edmund de Waal, acclaimed artist and writer. Funds raised help support the Whitechapel Gallery Education and Community programme.
The Gala Dinner and Artist Auction is hosted by former Whitechapel Gallery Director Iwona Blazwick OBE on 19 March 2015 at Banking Hall, London:

8pm: Dinner, Award and Auction

On the occasion of Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon 2015, leading artists have donated original artworks, some responding to the work of Richard Long, to be auctioned to raise funds to help support the Whitechapel Gallery’s Education and Community programme.
The auction will be launched by Paddle8 on Wednesday 4 March at 3pm GMT and close for online bidding on 18 March at 5pm GMT. The live auction will be conducted by Sotheby’s Oliver Barker at the Art Icon Gala Dinner at Banking Hall, Thursday 19 March.
