What happens when students build their own school?
MATT+FIONA present their community-led work as part of a residency at Lansbury Lawrence Primary School, Tower Hamlets, where pupils take the role of commissioning, designing and then being involved in the fabrication of a new purpose-built art room.
Coinciding with MATT+FIONA: Room for Art, the talk will consider the processes of pupil–led design, alongside the ideas and ideologies of school architecture, in the context of rapidly declining investment in creative learning in UK schools.
MATT+FIONA is a collaborative venture between Architect Matthew Springett, principal of London based architectural practice MSA and Educator Fiona MacDonald.
