A professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka, the artist Nisar Hossain (b. 1961, Dhaka) discusses contemporary art in Bangladesh, focusing on ritualistic folk painting and the traditional painter communities in the country. Hossain graduated in Drawing and Painting (University of Dhaka, 1981) and received his M.F.A from the Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, India.
