In dialogue with Helen Cammock’s film Che si può fare (What can be done), artist and composer Elaine Mitchener presents a new performance work, drawing inspiration from In Darkness Let Me Dwell (1610) by lutenist and composer John Dowland as a starting point. Cammock’s film looks at the histories of lament, particularly through the lens of female composers. Mitchener’s performance traces this across genres, combining live solo and pre-recorded multiple voices.
