Thirty young people from across London form the Whitechapel Gallery’s youth group. For this exhibition, these 16–24 year olds known as Duchamp & Sons create new works in response to the space.Working in collaboration with artist Steven Morgana and architect Nick Wood on the exhibition and design concept, the group’s display echoes the research, experiments and conversations that have unfolded over the past six months.
A sculptural intervention into the Gallery’s skylight shifts the experience of the room and disrupts usual patterns of seeing. Alongside this piece, there are a series of structures that incorporate images sourced from newspapers, magazines and the internet. The art work is continuously disassembled and rebuilt into new forms throughout the duration of the exhibition.
