6 April - 22 April
On the tenth anniversary of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse, which killed 1138 workers in Samar, Bangladesh, Safe Studios hosts a photo exhibition by the celebrated Bangladeshi photographer and activist, Taslima Akhter, who was on the ground hours after the building collapsed. The photos highlight not only the devastation of the collapse, but ten years of resistance and struggle for justice by family members and garment workers.
The exhibition will also will also feature a video installation by Rainbow Collective of garment worker protests over 10 years in Bangladesh, together with a collection of large format portraits of Rana Plaza survivors, used as banners in street demonstrations across Europe following the collapse. The Private view on THURSDAY 6TH APRIL will also include a practical workshop where participants will contribute to a public art piece to be unveiled on the Anniversary of the factory collapse.Safe Studios
