Between autumn 2017 and summer 2018 local groups worked with artist Lucy Steggals in conversation-led and creative workshops. Participants were encouraged to find connections between their own experiences and the art they encountered in the Gallery. This included the work of photographer Thomas Ruff, artist Mark Dion and artists in The London Open 2018 exhibition.
In response to the theme of Collections, participants worked collaboratively to explore the accumulation of images and objects, the materiality of things, as well as the sculptural and performative qualities of materials – from cling film and clay, to balloons and stockings. Repetition and seriality turned into playful tools for working together.
Groups we worked with: Apasen, Attlee Centre, Capital A, Claremont Project, Crisis, Create, Core Arts, Headway East London, Idea Store, Linkage Peabody, New City College, Poetry in Wood, Portugal Prints, Powerhouse, Rosetta Arts, Up Your Street.
