Maria Fusco was the first Writer in Residence at Whitechapel Gallery, launching the annual residency programme as a platform for writing about art, writing as art and writing as a lens through which to view art. Throughout the year Fusco curated a series of conversations, workshops, readings, screenings and courses and a festival. She also a produced a book of short stories, which was published in Spring 2010, at the end of her residency.
Fusco contributes to a broad range of international publications, including Copy Work (Vancouver: Contemporary Art Gallery); Fully Booked: Cover Art and Design for Books (Berlin: Gestalten) and Hey Hey Glossolalia (New York: Creative Time). She is editor of The Happy Hypocrite, a bi-annual journal for and about experimental art writing, launched in 2008.

Maria Fusco is Director of Art Writing at Goldsmiths, London where she leads the MFA Art Writing, and is currently critic in residence at The Kadist Art Foundation, Paris.
