Sally O’Reilly, former Whitechapel Gallery Writer in Residence, invited practitioners, critics, commentators and academics from a range of disciplines to contribute to an ongoing online bibliographic project.
The Wheel of Emotions (non-fiction) comprised a non-fiction reading list organised by the psycho-evolutionary theorist Robert Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotions. Plutchik’s suggestion that the often-confusing swell of atmospheres of the mind can be organised and explained through simple taxonomy, provides a conceit for sifting through the similarly perplexing expanse of historical, reflective and theoretical writing. The result is a reading list that inflects that which is generally considered coolly detached with the heat of lived life.
